Padma Lakshmi Bio
Padma Parvati Lakshmi is a Chennai-based Indian woman who was born September 1st, 1970. Lakshmi was two years old when her parents divorced. Her mother emigrated to America to escape the shame of divorcing in India. Lakshmi resided in Chennai with her maternal grandparents for two years, before moving to the United States. There is a younger half-brother from her father's side as well as a younger sister. Both of her parents later divorced. Lakshmi, whose last name means the Hindu goddess of prosperity, wealth and prosperity was born in New York. She then grew up with her mother and stepfather in Los Angeles. She would visit India for a short period of time each year to visit relatives. Padma Lakshmi first became interested in acting at the age of 1999.
