American actress Jennifer Leann Carpenter is a 7 December 1979 native of the United States. She is known for playing Debra Morgan in the Showtime series Dexter, for which she earned an Saturn Award in 2009, as well as for her role as Rebecca Harris in the CBS television show Limitless. She began her role as Erica Shepherd in The Enemy Within, an NBC drama. Carpenter's performance in The Exorcism of Emily Rose was her first major hit. Carpenter won the 2006 MTV Movie Award, for "Best Frightened Performer" and an Hollywood Life Breakthrough Award. In 2006, at the Scream Awards, she was named "Breakout Actor". In 2007, she began dating her Dexter co-star Michael C. Hall. They were married on New Year's Eve 2008 in California. In January 2009, they made their first public appearance as a married couple at 66th Golden Globe Awards. Hall and Carpenter released a statement in December 2010 saying that they had separated for "for some period of time". However, they are still close acquaintances. Carpenter and Seth Avett, musician, were announced as engaged and expecting their first child on February 10, 2015. In August of 2015 it was discovered that Carpenter had given birth in May to a son and admitted that she was eight-and-a-half months pregnant while filming the pilot for Limitless. Carpenter and Avett were married in May 2016.
