Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell (born August 25, 1949) is an American television chef and host. She was also an instructor for the Institute of Culinary Education. She is host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef at Food Network. Food Network. Anne Burrell, with her signature spiky blonde locks and pumped-up persona on the Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Cook series, shares simple and easy to master cooking techniques that are suitable for the home cook. Chef Burrell has worked in New York at top restaurants and studied the Italian culinary traditions and environment. She also competed as Iron Chef America on Food Network. As a youngster, growing up in New York's Upstate region, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. She pursued her love of food and restaurant by enroling at The Culinary Institute of America following the completion of a bachelor's degree in English and Communications from Canisius College, Buffalo NY. I enjoyed every moment of being a student of The Culinary Institute of America she states. I just couldn't get enough out of the experience. After graduating, Burrell spent one year learning in the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners as well as working at Umbria's La Taverna del Lupo as well as Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, a Michelin-starred restaurant. While in Italy she was able to fully appreciate and understand the philosophy behind Italian cuisine and culture which has had a profound impact on her culinary viewpoint. Burrell is a well-known ambassador of the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation and has been on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that assists children with obstacles. Burrell travels extensively across the country in her role as a mentor as well as a an invited speaker, where she talks about her work and passion for cooking. Anne said she felt lucky that I could be able to share her passion for cooking with other people.
